2004 VTR National Convention
Richmond, VA
Hosted by the RTR

Honorary Host Jim aka "Vanna White" Davis shows what's behind door number three!
July 20, 2004
Ronnie Babbitt, Jim Davis, Ashford Little and Mark Pruitt represented the GTA
at the 2004 VTR national convention in Richmond, VA, July 14-17th. The
weather was excellent and had been guaranteed not to rain due to Ashford's
lengthy windshield wiper procrastination project. With approximately
250 cars attending the show, the turnout was great, and the host club, the
Richmond Triumph Register, put on a clinic as to how to host a national
convention.
Jim Davis took home a 2nd place award in Participants Choice for Late-TR6's. Ronnie Babbitt also was awarded a first in class at the Autocross . Ronnie also took home the "on-site repair award" as he was forced to open up the front of his engine on the Sports Six due to a mechanical issue. Not to be left out, Mark Pruitt used a leaky valve cover gasket as an excuse to skip the autox. Jim Davis also skipped the autox for undetermined reasons (something about mussing up his hair), and honorary GTA member and frequent traveler, Al Salvatore determined that clamato juice is not served at Red Lobsters.
There are some excellent photos which I'll post to a separate page when I get the chance, but I'll use this opportunity to mention that these events are great fun and if you've not attended one, then put the 2005 VTR on your calendar, which will be in Rockford, IL.
Oh, and I almost forgot, Joe's monkey decided to make a surprise appearance. We had a nice conversation over dinner on Saturday. I mentioned that Joe missed him dearly, but he said he was enjoying his newfound freedom and was in no hurry to get home. Oh well, whatchagonnado?
